Dr. Edward J. Filangeri, DDS

Dr. Ed earned his dental degree at the Indiana University School of Dentistry after attending Indiana University. He then spent four years with the United States Public Health Service in Bethel, Alaska, before coming home to New York and opening his private practice, which he has run for about 30 years.

He keeps learning. His postgraduate training includes implant dentistry and Tip-Edge orthodontics, a braces technique that uses light forces, so more of the care his patients need can happen in one familiar office.

He is a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the New York State Dental Association and the Suffolk County Dental Society.

Why he practices this way

Dr. Ed runs a fee-for-service practice. Without insurance contracts setting the terms, he can recommend what your teeth actually need, take the time to explain it, and tell you honestly when something can wait.

That shows up in small ways. You see your own x-rays on the screen. You hear the options, including the simplest one. You know the fee before anything starts. And nobody tries to sell you on treatment you did not come in for.
